Preparations for a Savannah Cat

We wish for loving and responsible owners for our Savannah kittens. Therefore, the preparations for a Savannah cat are necessary; it is not in our interest to sell our Savannah cats as soon as possible. We are looking for a great, lifelong and loving home.

Preparing for a Savannah Cat – Socialization is an important aspect. Savannah cats are very active animals and need a lot of attention like every cat. Savannah kittens need a lot of work.

The handling of people and children should not be neglected at Savannah-Kitten. If kittens are busy with themselves most of the time, it quickly leads to behavioral problems. This is shown by being very shy of people and noisy everyday sounds. Well socialized kittens / cats are very people-related, cuddly and usually do not have any fears.

Our Savannah cats are raised with love, we take all the time in the world. We also wish this from the future owners.

Cats, especially Savannah cats, must grow up in an appropriate way. Artgerecht also means that every kitten has enough space to live. A secure access to the outside is of course desired.

The savannahs are quite demanding in terms of food. That’s why we recommend that you always feed organically and biologically. You should not refrain from using wet and dry food. Whether you barbeque or just occasionally feed raw meat is at your discretion.

It is unlikely much for our little velvet paw. Therefore, it is important to us before each move that we are allowed to get to know the new family and see if they have taken the preparations for a Savannah cat seriously. We want to know where our darlings come from and how they will live there.

By the end of the 10th week of life, the kittens meet everything without fear, the journey to the new home, the new people, etc.

During this time (4-8th week) the kittens learn how to interact with each other, eat together, reach the housebound purity, meet the vacuum cleaner regularly and often play with children.

Furthermore, the memory is not very strong until the end of the 10th week of life, so that on the next day usually everything is forgotten. In addition, Savannah cats are very related to their “fellow humans”. That should be the new owner and not the breeder!

You’ll be wondering what a wonderful relationship you can build with your savannah cat, free from anxious states and with a deep trust. The best way to achieve this confidence is to prepare for a Savannah cat.

Another reason for the tax from the 8th Week is that almost all kitten arrive at you as if they had always lived with you. Without fear or crying, the Savannah kittens explore their new home and immediately curious all rooms. They are not afraid and do not hide under the bed, for example. They immediately take their new territory and quickly find their alpha animals or caregivers.

Not to forget you can breed a hybrid and big cats, not confused with a normal domestic cats breeding.

An early delivery factor:
Since 29/12/2014, amended by Regulation (EU) No 576/2013 conditions for intra-Community travel with pets (travel between EU Member States and the EEA and Switzerland).

For example, following this regulation, it is no longer necessary to carry out the rabies vaccination to obtain the EU Pet Passport. In combination with an implanted microchip and a rabies declaration, which is also to be carried on the way to the new home.

Prerequisite is that the cat is delivered to the new home before the 12th week. If the cat is older than 12 weeks, she can not travel without the rabies vaccine within the EU.

By the delivery from the 8th week benefit all of them.

Of course there may be exceptions, which we have not had in our hobby breeding yet! In general, however, it is sometimes possible, especially if they are given later than at the age of 8 weeks, that they cry their familiar surroundings with their mum, siblings and us as hobby breeders. It may take 2-3 days for the kitten to get used to the new home.
